Hello,

I’m Rachel.

I’m a photographer and creative director. Since childhood I’ve been documenting the memories of my family, friends and myself.

My mother who has been a photographer and entrepreneur for as long as I can remember started bringing me to her photoshoots around 10. I would lug the camera gear around, do kart wheels and act a fool to make everyone laugh. Around 13 she started passing me her back up camera and letting me try my hand at second shooting for weddings. Considering she was self taught, she had little technical information to give me, but what she lacked in that she made up for with passion. She taught me that emotion and organic interaction were the most important part of a great photo. After fumbling with the camera for a few years I mildly figured out which buttons did what, but my own spark hadn’t been ignited just yet.

It wasn’t until my 18th birthday when she told me her back up camera was mine to keep. She had begun her journey stepping away from photography and into building and running her own wedding venue. It felt like she was handing down the torch to me. I began asking friends to pose for me and let me practice my skill and that was where my Dad’s influence bloomed.

As a surgeon and a scholars daughter, I have been raised with a hunger for all things knowledge. I couldn’t get enough information on psychology and anatomy. I was in and out of the OR my entire childhood. They would scrub me in at five years old and hand me organs to put in the biohazard containers. So needless to say the human body and mind were of great interest to me.

Taking my moms dreamer mentality and my dads passion for human beings, I began creating my aesthetic. I found that nothing brought me more joy than capturing a photo that made people feel something. I was trying to bottle the emotions that these burst of creativity would give me and pass them to my viewer. Over time that passion has bloomed in many directions. Cinematography, Fashion, travel, lifestyle, and portraiture etc.

I hope that in choosing me to create something for you, I can do more than bring your brand or idea to life. Together we can make imagery that tells a story and makes people feel something.
